New Bookcase, Thank You Dad!

This past week my mom has been in Malta on a missions trip and now for the weekend, they stopped off in London before heading back home. So, we figured to keep my dad busy during this time, we'd let him work on a project for us. =)
We were wanting a book case for an empty space we had upstairs, (sorry so blurry!)
so we decided to ask the pro to help us out, my Dad!!!
The girls loved to watch Opa,
and Hailey even had to ask "what doing" several times, and micromanage him a bit.
Hailey called the blanket, "Opa's Minkie!"
No worries, we paid him well. Since Mom isn't here, we figured he'd need a good meal, so Andy made a delicious steak dinner!
Complete with peaches and whipped topping for dessert! (Hailey thinks it's "I-tream.)
Then, of course I had to add some more pictures of the girls having fun after bath time, while Andy and my Dad did some finishing touches of filing in some holes and sanding and painting the last coat.
Hailey wanted to have both her and Tegan in the basket...

We love our wonderful new bookcase!

THANKS AGAIN DAD, WE LOVE IT!

Snow, Ice and other Adventures

On Thursday afternoon, schools were called off for the next day (Friday) due to a snow storm we were supposed to get. I was pretty excited because I like the snow. I also like to just have my fun in it, and then for it to just all go away.
Isn't the snow and lake pretty? This was Sunday night, on our way to Harris Teeter, in our town center.

Since the girls had been sick the previous weeks, and I already had to cancel our outings and activities, I was already going a little bonkers, I just had to get out, so Hailey and I went to The Little Gym, so she could get some energy out.

While we where there, is when the snow started coming down. It was rather pretty!
We then headed over to Hailey's music and dance playtime, which she was extremely excited about, as was I, only to find out it was canceled. So, we called up the Hensley's to see if they would like to have some music and dance time with Hay Hay.
The snow kept coming, and covered our car while we were there... all, oh I don't know 5 or 6 inches of it? It was a beautiful site to see it fall. However, on top of the snow, lay a thick layer of ice! So, there wasn't much to do in it. Even walking in it wouldn't leave any footprints. Very strange.
The roads were really icy and I had to cancel my girls night out. People were getting off work early and it was just "a mess". Good thing we were safe inside by now.
The next morning, we got a bit more snow, but we opted to stay cozy inside in jammies all day and watch morning cartoons in "Mommy Daddy bed." (and then here again on Monday morning too)
Some people managed to make snowmen, or icemen I guess? I'm wondering where the poor guys arms are?
I hear Chuck, Natalie and Kelly had a blast out on sleds...(photos courtesy of CJ.)

We saw lots of people sledding down the streets and hills, and even a Jeep Wrangler pulling some kids on sleds! Looking back, we should have gone out, Hailey would have loved the sled, but we were all just so cozy. Maybe next year when she is older, she will enjoy it more... although she always squeals "Walk Sub Wakes!" (walk snow flakes) when she gets to go out in it, and she loved the last snow fall... all 1 inch of it.
So, still being pretty icy out, some churches around here were canceled, or like ours, two services combined for one later service in order to give time for the sun to come out and melt some of the ice, or you could stay home and watch it live online. It wasn't really that cold, so we ventured out to church...

driving out of the neighborhood we wondered if we were crazy, but once we hit the main road, it was all good.
I guess when you live somewhere where it doesn't snow that much, the city, or whoever, is not prepared with the right amount of equipment to get the roads clear... and so... Monday's school was called off too, so our activities for the day got canceled once again. So... we walked over to the Hensley's and Hailey got to help make cupcakes, or as she calls them "Muffins".
She even decorated hers very carefully.

Tegan- "When do I get to help eat, I mean make, cupcakes?"
No more snow, BUT Tuesday school was then called off! UGH! Meaning... my Mom's group is canceled! NO! Everything around here follows what the schools do. By now I am really getting cabin fever and wanting to get out! We don't have community group tonight either.
We had gone to Harris Teeter one night as a family, and Target last night. What fun! At least the stores didn't close!
SO... 5 inches of snow, 5 activities canceled, and 5 days spent indoors. I am so ready for this ice-snow to be GONE!
But we still had lots of fun doing the things we did.
Hailey got to help bathe Tegan,

and then we got to Skype with Joy and Cha Chi!

Now Hailey wants to Skype with everyone, so even though we just saw Opa, we Skyped him too!
Let us know if you ever want to Skype! Hailey will be thrilled! (Although she shows most of her excitement after we say our good-byes. I know, strange...)

And to show you how much Hailey loves her baby Tegan, here is the story of after naps today...
Hailey wakes up,
she hears Tegan and says "Tegan wake." She takes me by the hand and says "come ear" (come here) as she opens the door to Tegan's room. She goes over to the crib, climbs up,
Tegan is squealing with joy when she sees her sister,
Hailey climbs in, and the two of them just have the time of their lives!

Natalie's Birthday

Last weekend we celebrated Natalie's 14th Birthday!
The house was decorated in lots of pink,

and balloons that all the girls loved
Natalie's dinner of choice was chicken and ribs, Good choice Nat!
Tegan - "um, I'm a big girl now, I can sit up, so where's my goodness?"
There was lots of yummy dessert,
Hailey surely was interested!
For the cake, Natalie chose a cookie cake! Yummy!
She even let Hailey help blow out the candles.
Kelly put some extra toppings on her piece,
and quicker than anyone could stop her or even noticed, Tegan swiped up some frosting.
What guys? It's not like you were EVER going to give ME any?!
Then we ended the night with a family fave, Apples to Apples

and some Karaoke, where Hailey danced non-stop! (more like spun in circles non-stop.)

Hailey did take some time out of her spin dance to sing "Happy to YOU" to Natalie.

We hope you enjoyed your Birthday Nat'Knee! We love you!!!

Grandparent Love

One evening, Grandpa J. aka Papa, called and asked if Hay-Hay could spend the night. It worked out great because poor Tegan was sick.
So, Hailey packed her own bag, and even made sure she had plenty of breakfast bars (as if Gamma doesn't feed her, c'mon now!)
This was how she packed the first time,
then she had to repack about 5 times, until it was perfect.
Seriously, it was all her!
Kelly was over at our house hanging out, so between the two of them, they didn't forget a thing,
and she wanted to go with Hailey too, so off they went!
Despite our attempts to keep Hailey from getting sick, she still ended up getting sick.
One day, before getting too sick, we had to go to Costco... and one of the ladies restocking the flowers gave Hailey a flower and told her that she hopes she feels better. It was so sweet!
Tegan was sick for a week and Hailey had been sick for 4 days, both with runny noses and fevers, so after a week and a half of one canceled event after another and staying home... Oma came to rescue me from going too stir crazy. When I got home, Hailey had finally woke up (2nd day in a row that she slept in until 9:30am and took a 5 hour nap! - She typically wakes up around 7 or 7:30 and naps for 3 hours). She was cuddled on the couch sipping her orange juice and watching her tv.
Which, Hailey rarely ever sits still or just lays on the couch. Once I got home, she had to take off my boots and try them on herself.
Tegan was feeling a bit better, I'd say, with her double dimple, two teeth smile!

Bragging on Andy

It's not his birthday or our anniversary or any Hallmark holiday. It's just an ordinary day that because it is a day given to us by God, it is an extraordinary day. Every day that I have with Andy is very special. I am so blessed to have him as my husband and best friend to do life with.
Andy is such a source of strength and encouragement to me in all I do. He is kind, giving, loyal and loving. He is so fun to be around. He looks at the sunny side of life with a positive attitude and keeps me on my toes with laughter. He is a hard worker and is dedicated to God, his family and his friends.
I am so proud of Andy for who he is and who he is becoming. I am so proud to stand beside him and be called his wife, and be the one who gets to love, honor and adore him.
Andy and I have both made some life goal changes, and since this post is about how proud I am of Andy, I wanted to share a little of his heart and his goals with you.
